Description

This webinar will benefit staff who assist in the development, maintenance, & auditing of BSA/ AML programs at their financial institution.

Course Overview

The Trump administration has signaled dramatic shifts in sanctions policy and anti-money laundering enforcement priorities: drug trafficking, China-related, Iran-related, etc. Financial institutions and compliance professionals should prepare for a regulatory environment that maintains enforcement vigor while redirecting its focus.

This session by a veteran internal auditor will discuss how the BSA/AML landscape will change in the coming days and identify key compliance factors financial institutions should consider as they adapt to this dynamic environment.

The webinar has been primarily designed for bankers, bank auditors, and forensic auditors who work with or are involved in developing or auditing compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act.

Areas Covered
  • Current BSA/AML landscape and areas of focus
  • Stages of Money Laundering
  • Four Pillars of BSA
  • Customer Identification Program
  • OFAC Checking
  • Beneficial Ownership
  • The two-prong test
  • Customer Due Diligence
  • Customer Risk Rating
  • Filing Reports
  • New policies and guidance including voluntary disclosures and reporting
  • Learnings from violations, penalties, and remedial measures
Learning Objectives

By the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Outline, briefly, the constituent parts of the BSA requiring bank compliance
  • Define Money Laundering, common and legal identifiers, and Red Flags
  • Identify Sources of Audit Evidence of IT Laundering
  • Explain how the BSA covers evidence-gathering
  • Internet and Cloud Laundering
  • The steps involved in conducting an internal investigation
  • Elements required to establish evidence of Laundering

Why you should attend?

Trump’s first term saw significant sanctions/AML penalties and we expect the same this term albeit with a refocus in terms of priorities

Compliance professionals and financial institutions should take steps to evaluate their preparedness in this new regulatory climate. The new 10-year statute of limitations for sanctions violations, combined with the 5 and 6-year statutes of limitations for criminal and civil AML violations, respectively, provide further reason to maintain vigilance in financial crimes compliance.

Who will benefit

The webinar is aimed primarily at bankers, bank auditors, and forensic auditors who are working with or involved in developing or auditing compliance with the BSA:

  • Internal Audit Professionals
  • Chief Audit Executives
  • IT Management Professionals
  • Risk Officers & strategic management members
  • Internal control professionals
  • Forensic Auditors
